Agriculture involving domestication of plants was developed around 11,500 years ago separately in both the Fertile crescent and at Chogha Golan in modern day Iran, where wild barley, wheat, and lentils were cultivated and with domesticated forms of wheat appeared about 9,800 years ago.
Humans were originally hunter gatherers, meaning they collected naturally occurring food sources. This often meant that they had to move where the food was regularly. Humans began to play around with domesticating wild plants which to the ability to plant and harvest crops and wild animals. As farming arose so did the idea of settling down and creating societies.
